love’s pure gold: book 3
Ian’s empire
Ian’s Empire setting is located in Grass Valley California. Thankfully, the Empire Mine was made into a State Historic Park and visitors can enjoy a tour of the home and grounds. Here are a few photos I took- that are hard to see in the back of the book. My names are fictional. But in 1879, The mine owner allowed his 22-year-old-son, William B Bourn Jr., to take over the management to keep the mine from closing. Hmmm that got my wheels turning. Was he driven? Loyal? Of course, dark and handsome.
The other thing on the tour that grabbed me, was that the family supported an orphanage in Sacramento. Well there we go, we need a beauty as headmistress who could match Mr. Driven and Loyal. Olivia, the heroine is behind that stately desk. I really liked the aspect of two people who both believe their cause is the most important. Isn’t that true in so much of life? There is a time to stand up and a time to relinquish control. Which right is the greater right? Does right-standing sometimes sit down? Totally makes me think of Jesus, he had done no wrong, yet laid down his life. For us, we don’t often know when to stand and when to sit. But God searches the condition of the heart. Pride should sit down. Trust should always stand up.
I’ve hoped you’ve enjoyed a ramble through these mining towns in Northern California. So many heroes and heroines during the Gold Rush never recorded their bravery, faith, and courage. I hope I captured a tiny bit of the things they overcame.
