Wells fargo west: book 1
the messenger’s mischief
The Messenger’s Mischief started with a visit to Virginia City, Nevada. It was just like the setting in all the books- dry, windy, and desolate. My first mistake was to walk through the old cemetery. Oh Lord, in the earliest days how many women/mothers are buried there with their infants was so sad. But the graves with early dates and rough wooden sidewalks started to come alive in my authors imagination. It really was a hoppin’ place, tripling the population with the Comstock silver mining. And with early townsfolk like Mark Twain and the Hearst’s and even the famous brothel owner, Julia Bulette, our sweet school teacher, Miss Balderhoff had a setting for her story (and trials) there. (She is fiction). Funny that- even with such rough early days in Virginia City history-I purposely tried to write a lighter romance this time around. I wanted Laney Balderhoff to be quirky, OCD, and a true missionary at heart. (Brave and steeped in her faith). She was fun to develop and seen here with her quirky smile. (Thank you Kylie Monchamp! The shotgun messenger is Levi Becker aka: Chloe David’s boyfriend.) I write romance to Entertain and to Escape, and I hope you will kick back and jump on a Wells Fargo West Book #1 to adventure.
